“Out-think, out-innovate, and out-hustle the competition, and vividly visualize yourself as winning before entering into every deal or competitive situation. Maintain a blood-smelling, fighter pilot life-or-death attitude when any deal gets near a close.” Successful people start even before they ready. They make it to the top because they have hooked themselves up to the rising star.
In a world that constantly tries to push you down, crushing your expectations at every sharp corner, equating materialistic possession to success, the only thing that can keep us going is our ambition. Ambitious people already have a vision of themselves standing on the top. They have a portion of that success in their heads, a dream, and yet there is a curiosity, an urge, that prompts them to work hard towards their goal. They dream big, because that is when the possibilities open up to them.
Let us take an example of losing weight. How great does it feel to imagine yourself in a pretty pink dress that fits you perfectly, without showing any of your stomach bulges? But then every time you think of working out or quitting junk food, you lose track and end up stuffing yourself with a thousand calories. Losing fat is a game between you and the outside world. Everyone, from family to friends to co-workers to restaurant owners to TV advertisers is scheming against you to make you eat more and exercise less. Like it or not, it’s true. They might not be doing it on purpose, or with bad intentions, but they are happier when you are fed, full, and flat out on the couch. You must always know your options. You must have Plans A, B, C, D, and E. You must be prepared to counter-attack. When they say pizza, you say sushi. When they say take-out, you say, “I’ve already prepared my lunch”. When they say, “Happy Hour”, you say, “Workout first.” Surround yourself with people who are fitter and healthier than you. Your vision should be so strong that no one can convince you to give up your dream in exchange for a temporary pleasure.
Do not compromise. Do not be a wussy. Look your opponent in the eye and show them you are in charge. Stand tall, be firm, and speak proudly. Be prepared. Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you. If you have a dream, stick to it. Every time you feel disappointed, or let down, dig into your mind, that will flash a mental picture of who you want to be. Constantly reinforcing the image of you with the success trophy will help you consciously and subconsciously prepare for the journey. As you move closer towards your goal, the vision gets clearer.
All I’m saying is, keep your vision visible.
